Bio

Oscar is owned and operated by Brad and Melony Rarick and was started in 2007. Don’t let the date fool you, Brad has had over 25 years of experience and started at the age of 16 where he helped pulling cable at his church for their new PA system and was taught basic operation of the mixer (Shure Promaster 700). He then started to help with audio and sound effects for school plays and musicals. Brad mixed audio for many local Christian singing groups and in 1984 he attended the “Recording Workshop” located in Chillicothe, Ohio. In 1985 Brad got involved with “The King’s Place, which was a Christian music venue in Columbus, Ohio. He started out mixing monitors and house for many well know Christian groups. In the early 90’s Brad became the house engineer and was there until they closed the doors in 2001. Also during the late 80’s and early 90’s Brad mixed audio for a locally produced show called “Night Songs” which was hosted by Mark Yarger. The show was a 30 minute show that played Christian videos and had a live studio audience with a live band and eventually was increased to a one hour show with live songs from the band. Brad was hired on at WSFJ TV-51 in 1993 as the audio engineer where he mixed audio for many taped productions as well as live remote productions. During these years he also met with several churches and worked on their audio and video needs. He has done freelance work for Gerling & Associates and worked in the building of remote production trucks for companies such as ESPN, Fox Sports. Brad was also involved in a partnership of a local sound company that did a lot of work for churches, schools and bands. Brad continually strives for the best audio possible. Melony takes care of all bookings, accounting and advertising.

Oscar's bio: Where did we come up with the name? As you have probably guessed by now it is the name of our 4 year old Himalayan cat "Oscar" proudly named after the Sesame Street character "Oscar the Grouch". When he was a kitten we found out pretty quickly that he loved music, whenever Brad would be in the basement listening to his music or doing some mixing Oscar would make his way down the steps and climb right on the sound board and eventually would curl up between the monitors and sit for hours. When our son, Brent would play his bass guitar Oscar would go into Brent's room and sit and listen so it only seemed fair to name our new venture after him. As I am sure you can tell he is quite spoiled and if you choose to have us help you with your recording needs do not be surprised if our head engineer Oscar makes an appearance.
